Hammer Company Briefing: Date: April 12, 2031 - 03:30 Location: Old Garrison for the 10th Mountain Division Background: As you all know you were pulled from the Wyoming sector last week. I know there’s frustration about turning our positions over to 1-16 IN, but that chatter stops now. Those contingency exercises about seizing Kansas were ONLY HYPOTHETICAL incase the Colorado economy deteriorated further, they were never actionable orders and MUST remain off-record. Morale among some units is fragile as it stands, there's no point in undermining cohesion among the armed forces. Current Situation Last week SOCOM used the scalpel with limited success, their rangers have managed to break into Granite Springs and have secured a Marine Raiders element in the city. The PLA however unfortunately managed to circumvent the city and have pushed south, friendly demolition of the leadville bridge and the ranger companies defending would've helped if the chinese hadn't blown the entire area to pieces and used the Cheyenne mesa to push southward. They now hold terrain just south of Rockdale where they have created extensive defensive fortifications. It's their anchor, we believe their lines to be stretched almost to a breaking point and that's where the Fighting Eagles come in to break said point. You've been moved here because of your knowledge of the local terrain. We will be the hammer that dislodges the Chinese from Colorado. Enemy Forces: Primarily PLA light infantry. Mechanized elements (APCs, IFVs) reported. PLA Airborne presence appears decreased in AO, possibly due to heavy casualties sustained against Ranger forces. Russian-leased systems (radar, air defense vehicles) have been observed in the AO, treat unknown vehicles as potentially hostile and heavily defended. PLA air activity has been low for a week, cause unknown. Expect at most sporadic fast-mover presence. PLA rocket artillery forces have been observed, indications are a shift from massed barrages to reactive fire missions, likely due to attrition and supply issues. Civilians: Urban centers have been largely evacuated. Any civilians encountered are there by choice and have been informed we cannot guarantee protection. Terrain and Weather: AO features sparse woodlands, farmland, small industrial/urban areas, and multiple river/bridge crossings, including the destroyed Leadville bridge and a viable crossing north-east of the Cheyenne Mesa. Forecasted weather is heavy rain with periods of low fog. Winds light enough for fixed/rotary flight in most windows, but windows may be constrained by visibility.
