OBS!!! OBS!!! Nu into kompani-order:
Date: April 5, 2031 Location: Apache Complex, CO Background Most of you already know the story by now, but it bears repeating. After the 2028 recession the country nearly came apart at the seams. Industry collapsed, the economy stalled, and for years the military was stretched thin just trying to keep the peace at home. Instead of preparing for combat against a peer adversary we were deployed in our own streets. Breaking up riots, guarding supply convoys and keeping looters from tearing cities apart. That became our reality. Combat training and overall readiness took a back seat while we played the role of riot police. The Chinese saw the weakness and moved fast. Six months ago they hit us with a preemptive nuclear strike. Key military bases, ports and cities on the West Coast wiped out in an instant. Pacific defenses shattered overnight. While the country was still reeling PLA forces landed in California, Oregon and Washington, carving out footholds before we could even mount a proper response. It took that attack for our fractured government to finally come to their senses. The West Coast states dropped their standoff with Washington, and the United States presented a united front again, for the first time in years. But by then the Chinese were already pushing inland. Now their armored and mechanized forces are driving east through Nevada and Utah. Intel says their goal is to secure the infrastructure of the interior, lock down the Great Plains, and force a settlement where they keep the west. They want our heartland as their buffer zone. Two months ago, Socom pulled us, the 2nd Ranger Battalion, off the front line and stationed us here at the Apache Complex in Colorado. Since then we've been regrouping, refitting, training and waiting for the next fight. Well, the fight's here. Current Situation The Chinese are on the move again. Their forward elements have been pushing east along Highway 24, right into the Twin Lakes region. Granite Springs is taking the brunt of it. Fighting's been heavy there for the past twenty-four hours. The Colorado Guard has committed two companies to hold the town, but they're outnumbered and losing ground. Half the town's already in PLA hands. We've got some support in the area. The 169th Field Artillery Brigade has a HIMARS battery, callsign Jukebox, hitting enemy positions north of Turtle Lake. They're buying us time, but they won't hold the line alone. Air power is still thin. After Travis Air Force Base was nuked most of our West Coast squadrons were wiped out. The Air Force has managed to get some birds back in the air, but they're mostly older models, and we don't control the skies. At best we'll get limited close air support if the weather holds and the Chinese don't push their fighters forward. SOCOM has tasked the 2nd Ranger Battalion with defending Twin Lakes. That means us. Our company's job is Granite Springs. We're going to reinforce the Guard, link up with Marine Raiders already operating inside the town, and hold the line until heavier units can move up. If we can't hold it then our mission is to make damn sure the PLA pays for every block they try to take and buy time for a larger counterattack. Enemy forces Predominantly PLA light infantry. Mechanized elements (APCs, IFVs) likely present. Possible PLA Airborne presence. Russian-leased vehicles (BTRs, BMPs) have been observed elsewhere and may be encountered. Limited PLA Air Force activity, Close Air support possible, but priority is striking static defences and out air assets. Rocket artillery follows main forces but seem to lag behind, add to that a setup time and they're unlikely to impact our initial contact. Civilians Most urban centers have been evacuated. Some civilians remains by choice, expect limited civilian presence in the AO. Terrain and Weather Mixed terrain: mountains, valleys, rivers and urban areas.
